The whole team at Children’s Heartbeat Trust are delighted that our Chief Executive Sarah Quinlan has been awarded an MBE for services to children and young people with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD).
CHT Chair Professor Nichola Rooney said: “This is a wonderful recognition of Sarah and the work of Children’s Heartbeat Trust. We directly support families of children with congenital heart disease and Sarah has led this essential work for almost ten years now. Many thousands of families know the tireless efforts she makes on their behalf. Nothing is too much for Sarah from quietly supporting children, young people and their families, to publicly highlighting the need for children in Northern Ireland to receive world class Congenital Heart Disease services. Her determination to get the best outcome for children and their families has played a huge role in bringing about the significant changes in how the care for our children is delivered through the new all-island paediatric cardiac network. We are all delighted for her.”
Sarah said the award was a reflection of the collective effort to support children and families.
“I am delighted to receive this award on behalf of all of the Children’s Heartbeat Trust team and especially for the heart families we work with and support. Our organisation is dependent upon the support of the general public and especially the family support network we have developed right across Northern Ireland. The children and young people living with heart disease are the heroes of this issue and we will continue to support them to the best of our ability.”
