Schools

Sending your child to school can be an anxious time for any parent, and having a child with a heart condition can bring additional worries. Being prepared and ensuring the school has all the information it needs about your child’s heart condition can help make the transition smoother and give you confidence in your child’s safety.

Schools factsheet

If this is your first time leaving your child in someone else’s care, it’s especially important to feel reassured that they are in good hands. We recommend contacting the school before the start date to discuss your child’s needs and how their condition might impact their school life.

To assist with this, we’ve developed a Schools Factsheet you can fill in and share with your child’s teacher or school nurse. The School Factsheet is a general guideline, but the school may require additional, more specific information. If that’s the case, you can contact the Clinical Nurse Specialist at Clark Clinic for further advice.
