Heart
We understand that being a teenager is tough and being a teenager with CHD can sometimes feel even more difficult at times. We would love to see you at one of our Heart events where you can meet new people your age who understand what being a young person with CHD means, learn a bit more about living with CHD and have plenty of laughs trying new activities along the way!
What does Heart offer?
Our Heart group is open to young people aged between 14-17 years old who have congenital heart disease and are living in Northern Ireland. We love meeting up, trying new things and sharing our stories with each other.
Meet other young people with congenital heart disease at our exclusive events.
Regional catch-ups and activities throughout Northern Ireland.
Our peer support workshops include topics like; Independence, relationships and exploring further education, helping young people with CHD cope with some of the extra challenges having a heart condition can have.
Moving from Paediatric to Adult cardiac services is a big deal and can sometimes feel scary. To help inform you as best we can, we have created a Transition Booklet and run a twice annual Transition Day together with the paediatric and adult cardiology teams in the Royal Hospital Group, Belfast.
Our Summer Residential is a 2 night stay for 14-17 year olds with CHD, supported by the clinical nurse specialist teams at RBHSC and RVH. We have a jam packed weekend planned including lots of outdoor activities, teambuilding challenges, mental health workshops and plenty of craic along the way!
